hmmmm. . . .

Sophie now puts her finger to her mouth, purses her lips, and utters, hmmmmmm. . . when she is deciding what toy to play with or which book to pull out, OR even when she is looking in the fridge for something to eat!
Oh, the drama.

She is obsessed with shoes at this point, picking up any shoe she sees and saying "sue". She even likes to stomp around in mommy's tennis shoes.

She can concentrate for long periods on coloring.

18 mo appt

We took Sophie to see the dr. for her 18 mo checkup - she is getting wise to what happens at the dr. now, and she did not like it! She got very anxious when the nurse or dr. came near her! She was crying and scared when the nurse put a measuring tape around her head, or even put her on the scale to weigh her!

She also didn't like the dr. looking in her ears. It was the first time she has shown anxiety at the dr. The flu shot really hurt her little leg, and she cried for a LONG time afterward. Even looking at her bandaid afterward would begin a new flood of self-pitying tears.

She didn't eat much the day after the shot.

baby doll

For the past 2 days, Sophie has been doing everything with only one hand. This is because she is carrying her baby doll around in the other.

She takes her on the trail for the morning jog, to the gym, to the store, etc. She pretends to be feeding her as well.

Yesterday, she saw a bag of shredded mozzarella in the fridge and said "Cheese!" and wanted to eat some right out of the bag.

When her shoe fell off in the grocery store parking lot, she said "Uh oh, bye bye, shoe" to let me know.

Sophie has been cracking herself up by putting objects on her head, then saying "Hattie, hattie". She puts bananas and shoes on her head, like a hat. When I say "noooooo, that's not a hat!" she just laughs and says "noohhh, nooooooh"

That is the story of how the paper bowl became a hat, and a very sassy one at that! Need I say more?

Sophie gets so pleased with herself when she climbs onto the table. She began climbing up there a couple weeks ago, especially when dishes of candy were placed there. She uses the chairs to climb up.
Now that the candy's gone, she still enjoys climbing up for . . the view?

first potty

Sophie had her first #2 on the potty today. We saw her making the signals that she had to go, so we all ran to the potty and put her on it. We didn't think she went, but when she got up, there was a little nugget! Of course, we have a long way to go, but it's a start.

tap. tap. tap. tap

Today in music class, we tapped our heads to a song, and said "Tap, tap, tap" as we tapped our heads. Sophie continued to do it on and off throughout the morning!

She is also saying "chotch-cha" for Chotchsky, the neighbor's dog whenever she hears her barking.

Sophie went to her first wedding on Sunday. She had a good time and was very worn out by the time we drove home. She was fast asleep when we pulled in and didn't stir when we changed her diaper before putting her in her crib.

She's napping at 11am for the past few days, but only for about an hour.

She loves to say "Bye" these days, and yesterday, said "gwa-mah" for the first time when we looked at pictures!

She loves eating apples and pointing them out. She calls tomatoes apples too. She also loves to chomp on carrots, usually the same carrot for 15 minutes. She seems to like the feel of it in her mouth.
